The deal is worth nearly 280 million kroner and includes all-electric truck transport to the Klemetsrud facility in Oslo. Hafslund Celsio is building a full-scale carbon capture system at that plant, expected to be operational by 2029. The contract shifts waste processing from Sweden to Norway, cutting transport emissions. Geminor won on a combination of price, low carbon footprint, and quality. Electric trucks from partners Litra Gass and Seafront Norsteve will handle all haulage. Electric trucks are nice but I wonder about the grid capacity for charging a fleet of heavy trucks. Oslo's grid is decent but this adds load. Hope they have off-peak charging planned.

The contract value is about 280 million kroner over four years. That's roughly 70 million a year for 55k tons. Works out to around 1,270 kroner per ton. Curious how that compares to the old Sweden route.

The carbon capture piece at Klemetsrud is the bigger story for me. 2029 is ambitious for a full scale CCS plant on a waste incinerator. If it works, it could set a template for other Nordic waste to energy plants.

True, but CCS on waste incineration is still unproven at scale. The article doesn't mention the capture rate or what happens to the CO2. Storage or utilization? That detail matters for the climate math.
