Gebr. Heinemann launches supplier program for supply chain decarbonization with ClimatePartner
gtrmag.comGebr. Heinemann, a major travel retailer, has launched a new supplier enablement program in partnership with ClimatePartner to help suppliers measure and reduce product carbon footprints. The program is free for participating suppliers and provides training, methodologies, and practical guidance on collecting and sharing product-level emissions data. This initiative is part of Heinemann's broader effort to increase transparency around Scope 3 emissions and meet its SBTi-validated climate targets. The program builds on standards from the Travel Retail Data Innovation Group and uses GS1 data exchange standards, so suppliers do not need to adopt new software. By focusing on Product Carbon Footprints, the program aims to identify emissions hotspots and support the development of lower-emission value chains. Suppliers can register immediately, with onboarding sessions available in English and German. This collaborative approach recognizes that most retail emissions occur along the supply chain. Heinemann's Chief Commercial Officer emphasized that decarbonization requires joint effort, not just requirements. The program offers a practical path for suppliers to build capabilities and contribute to shared climate progress.
