Gatwick Airport Invests £1m in UK Nature-Based Carbon Removal
sussexexpress.co.ukGatwick Airport Limited is partnering with the Kent and Somerset Wildlife Trusts to restore degraded agricultural land into carbon-capturing habitats. The £1 million investment aims to remove 10,000 tonnes of CO2e to offset residual emissions that cannot be eliminated through direct operational cuts. Facilitated by Wilder Carbon, the projects at Ironhurst Valley and Honeygar Farm focus on high-integrity carbon sequestration and biodiversity recovery. This initiative is part of the airport's broader strategy to reach net zero for emissions under its direct control by 2030.
