Gatwick Airport Limited has partnered with Kent and Somerset Wildlife Trusts to fund the restoration of degraded agricultural land. The £1 million investment aims to remove 10,000 tonnes of CO2e through habitat restoration at Ironhurst Valley and Honeygar Farm. These projects are designed to offset residual emissions that the airport cannot eliminate through its capital decarbonization programs. Probably a mix. The real question is how they handle the scope 3 emissions. Offsetting direct operations is one thing, but the flights themselves are the main issue.
