Gatwick Airport Limited (GAL) has partnered with Kent and Somerset Wildlife Trusts to fund the restoration of degraded agricultural land. The £1 million investment aims to remove 10,000 tonnes of CO2e by transforming land into species-rich habitats and protecting healthy peat. These projects are designed to offset residual Scope 1 and 2 emissions that the airport cannot eliminate through direct capital improvements. The initiative is facilitated by Wilder Carbon and aligns with the airport's goal to reach net zero for emissions under its direct control by 2030.
