Gasunie and Partners Sign MoU for Cross-Border CO2 Network Between Germany and Netherlands

Gasunie and a consortium including EBN, Eni, OGE, Shell, and TotalEnergies have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance the Delta Rhine Corridor, a cross-border CO2 transport network. The project will link industrial clusters in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region with offshore storage sites in the Dutch North Sea, including infrastructure tied to the Aramis CCS project. The goal is to create an integrated CO2 value chain that supports industrial decarbonization in Northwest Europe. The announcement came during a visit by Dutch King Willem-Alexander and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who were briefed on related projects like Porthos CCS. The partners emphasize that stronger cross-border cooperation is needed to give industries access to large-scale carbon management for hard-to-abate emissions. This agreement is a concrete step toward building European CO2 transport and storage infrastructure that can help energy-intensive sectors cut emissions while staying competitive.
