The Galway International Arts Festival has completed its first carbon footprint study, conducted by Climeaction. The audit calculates greenhouse gas emissions from the festival's operations and identifies emission hotspots across the organization. The festival plans to refine data collection each year to improve reporting accuracy and increase carbon reduction efforts. As part of its sustainability measures, GIAF is also using a platform to analyze visitor movement, concentration, and stay duration. The festival runs from July 13th to 26th, featuring theatre, music, and street spectacle. This move aligns with broader trends in the events sector to measure and reduce environmental impact.
