G R Wright and Sons installs 900 kWp solar array at Harlow flour mill to cut energy use and grid reliance
yourharlow.comG R Wright and Sons, a flour milling company in Harlow, has partnered with East Green Energy to install a 900 kWp rooftop solar PV system at its mill. The system is designed to offset the facility's continuous, high electricity demand from grain cleaning, grinding, and pneumatic transport. With 99% of generation consumed on site, the project delivers an 18% return on investment and a 5.5 year payback period while contributing 7% of total site demand. The installation began in January 2026 and supports Wrights' commitment to reach net zero by 2050. East Green Energy designed the system to integrate with the mill's round the clock operations without disrupting production. Sister company Clearsol will handle ongoing monitoring, optimization, and panel cleaning to maintain performance over the system's lifecycle.
