Futamura UK reports 24% average carbon footprint cut on NatureFlex cellulose films
packagingscotland.comFutamura UK says its cellulose film production has cut the carbon footprint of NatureFlex films by an average of 24% compared with 2019. The company cites an independent life cycle assessment from ERM using IPCC AR6 GWP100 values, and puts cumulative avoided emissions at roughly the equivalent of taking 70,000 cars off UK roads for a year. The reductions so far come from a new compressed air system, LED lighting upgrades, and tighter control of air conditioning. Next is a Wet Sulphuric Acid project that will capture waste gases, use the heat to generate steam, and cover around 15% of the site's energy needs once operational in 2027/28.
