A new green energy project at Xiamen Haicang Lingang International Logistics Park in Fujian province combines electric heavy-duty trucks, automated battery swapping stations, and rooftop solar PV to create a zero-carbon port logistics hub. The facility, built by COSCO Shipping Investment, includes three swapping stations and 22 charging piles capable of handling 30 million kWh of charging and swapping annually. An initial fleet of 130 electric trucks has been deployed for container transport, with each 400 kWh battery swap taking under five minutes. The project also includes a 50,000 square meter distributed solar PV system with 8.4 MW capacity, expected to generate 10.08 million kWh of clean electricity per year. The first phase, covering 39,000 square meters of warehouse rooftops, is already grid connected and producing 6.5 million kWh annually. Since October, the base has used about 1.94 million kWh of clean electricity, cutting CO2 emissions by 1,090 tons. The company says electric trucks save logistics operators more than 10 percent on energy costs compared to diesel.
