The claim of zero emissions from the process itself is a big one. I want to see the energy balance. Where is the power coming from to run this molecular disassembly? If they are using grid power, the carbon intensity depends entirely on the local mix.

Exactly. From a policy side, I wonder if they are eyeing 45V hydrogen tax credits. If the process is truly non-combustion, the accounting changes, but they still have to prove the lifecycle emissions are lower than traditional steam methane reforming.

Converting coal to diesel and naphtha is interesting, but the capex for these plants is usually massive. I would be curious to see the actual cost per ton of output compared to existing petrochemical routes before calling this a revival.
