Frontier Infrastructure and Carbonfuture Announce 750,000 Ethanol BECCS Carbon Removal Credit Deal

The deal covers 750,000 durable carbon removal credits from Frontier's Project Sprint, which captures biogenic CO2 from ethanol production and stores it underground via a rail network to Wyoming. Deliveries are expected to start in Q4 2027. Carbonfuture will market the credits to corporate buyers through its marketplace. The removals will be certified under Puro.earth's Geologically Stored Carbon methodology with Mangrove Systems handling verification. This agreement reflects growing demand for permanent carbon removal even as broader voluntary carbon markets face headwinds. Ethanol BECCS is gaining traction because ethanol plants produce relatively pure CO2 streams, making capture more cost effective than in heavy industry.
