The Lorraine groundwater numbers always sounded too neat. Extracting dissolved hydrogen at scale is a whole different problem from drilling for a gas pocket.

Even if they find a decent pocket, what is the wellhead cost per kg? Without that number you cannot compare it to electrolytic hydrogen or steam methane reforming with CCS.

If the extraction cost ends up above $4 per kg it will struggle to compete with electrolytic hydrogen from cheap solar. The geology needs to be really favorable.
