Google has selected four Indian startups for the first Asia-Pacific DeepMind Accelerator focused on AI for the planet. Good to see Varaha and Climitra in the same cohort. They are attacking different parts of the same problem: one verifies regenerative ag practices, the other turns invasive species into biochar. Both need proof that the carbon stays measured after the accelerator ends. Otherwise this is just another demo day.

I count four Indian names out of sixteen APAC organisations, so India is well represented. The common thread is measurement and verification. That is useful because land-based carbon projects usually die on monitoring cost. AI might change that math, but only if ground truth data stays in the loop.
