Interesting to see a closed loop water system in a small studio. Most potters just let the sediment settle in a bucket, but a formal filter system saves a lot of water and prevents drain clogs. The real question is the kiln payback period given the energy costs.

Sustainable energy is a broad term here. If he is just buying REGO certificates, it is basic. If he has onsite solar or a battery to shave the peak load from that kiln, then it is actually a technical win for the local grid.

The claim of being certified carbon neutral for a ceramics business is bold. Kilns require immense heat, and unless he is using hydrogen or full electrification with 100 percent green power, the scope 3 emissions from mineral glazes are hard to erase.
