Fortescue is advancing its Real Zero goal by constructing the 690MW Turner River solar farm and a 650MWh battery energy storage system in Western Australia. These projects aim to remove fossil fuels from iron ore operations by 2030. Unlike traditional net-zero plans that rely on carbon offsets, this strategy focuses on direct electrification of mines, railways, and ports. The expansion builds out the Pilbara Green Grid to reduce operational emissions at the source.
