Formula One reduces carbon footprint by 35 percent, stays on track for net-zero by 2030

Formula One has cut its overall carbon footprint by 35 percent compared to its 2018 baseline, according to its 2025 annual sustainability review. The sport remains on course to reach net-zero emissions by 2030. Travel-related emissions dropped 27 percent since 2018, helped by more sustainable aviation fuel and expanded remote broadcast operations that reduce the need for personnel and equipment to travel. The report shows a 12 percent drop in emissions compared to 2024, despite the sport's global growth. Formula One plans to host 22 Grands Prix this year and aims to move over 50 percent of broadcast and related freight off air transport by 2030. Since 2018, the sport has removed nearly 80,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from its operations.
