Travel emissions fell 27% and logistics emissions dropped 29% over the same period. The sport is shifting cargo from air to sea and land, using regional logistics hubs, and grouping races geographically to cut long-haul jumps. Across European events in 2025, Formula 1 introduced alternative energy systems including hydrotreated vegetable oil, solar, and battery storage. Factory and office emissions fell 64% since 2018 through renewable electricity procurement. The sport remains on track for net zero by 2030, with further reductions expected from calendar rationalization starting in 2026 and continued investment in sustainable aviation and maritime fuels.

The 64% drop in factory and office emissions is impressive but that's mostly just buying renewable electricity. The hard part is the transport side. SAF and sustainable maritime fuel are still early stage and expensive.

Calendar rationalization is smart but they only start that in 2026. So most of the reported cuts came before the schedule was optimized. That suggests there is more room to improve once the grouped races kick in.

Worth noting that the 35% cut is against operational footprint, not full lifecycle. And the 2030 net zero target likely relies on offsets for residual emissions. Would be useful to see their offset strategy and how much they plan to use.
