Ford tested its Ranger PHEV's 6.9 kW Pro Power Onboard system against a standalone gas generator at its U.K. facility. Results showed the truck's built-in power cost less to run and produced far fewer emissions. This makes the plug-in hybrid a practical option for worksite or emergency power without hauling a separate generator. The test matters because gas generators are bulky, noisy, and rely on a steady fuel supply during outages.
