The standard is used to manage carbon neutrality and requires companies to cut emissions before turning to offsets. The certification supports the company's targets of carbon neutrality by 2040 and net zero by 2050. To qualify, Exotic Food recalculated its greenhouse gas baseline across manufacturing, upgraded its emissions data systems, and went through independent verification. It is installing solar panels at its Rayong facility and plans more at its Phitsanulok raw material site. It is also working on energy efficiency and shifting freight from diesel trucks to electric vehicles. The move is aimed at export markets such as Europe, where buyers increasingly want measurable and independently verified climate performance. It shows the difference between setting a climate target and having a recognized framework to track progress.

The useful part is the hierarchy: avoid, reduce, then offset only residual. Most corporate claims skip that order. Certification only matters if the baseline and verification are public. Otherwise it is a badge, not a roadmap.
