Flintshire carbon capture plant: £200m Parc Adfer retrofit would capture 241,000 tonnes CO2 a year
leaderlive.co.ukEnfinium has applied to Flintshire County Council for a £200m carbon capture retrofit at its Parc Adfer waste-to-energy site in Connah's Quay. If approved, the plant would capture around 241,000 tonnes of CO2 per year from 232,000 tonnes of residual waste, with the carbon sent through the HyNet pipeline for storage under the Irish Sea. The planning committee is due to decide on October 7 and officers have recommended approval. The project would add post-combustion carbon capture to an existing facility that already powers 45,000 homes. Captured CO2 would move via HyNet to spent gas wells off Point of Ayr. The consent includes a condition requiring the plant to shut down by December 2050 and the land restored. Eight new jobs would be created.
