Marley has launched Edgemere 2.0, the first UK concrete roof tile made with carbon-capture cement technology. The cement uses CO2 captured at source and stored permanently under the seabed. Each order comes with an Environmental Attribute Certificate from the Carbon Bank, providing full traceability of the carbon reduction. The tile has a Global Warming Potential of just 1.86 kg CO2e per square meter from cradle to gate, a significant drop from standard concrete tiles. This product targets public sector and housing providers who now need verifiable embodied carbon data for specifications. The carbon reductions are attributed to locally sourced UK cement via a transfer mechanism, avoiding transport emissions from Norway. It is a practical example of how carbon capture can be applied to common building materials without changing installation or performance.
