First Graphene and Aeropreg partner to test graphene-enhanced carbon fibre prepreg for aircraft
stocktitan.netFirst Graphene (ASX: FGR) has signed a three-year development and commercialisation agreement with Turkish prepreg manufacturer Aeropreg to bring graphene-enhanced carbon fibre prepreg to market. The partnership will use First Graphene's PureGRAPH epoxy concentrates to add graphene to Aeropreg's existing carbon fibre prepreg production, which is used in aerospace, automotive, marine and sporting goods. The material is still in the validation phase. The companies need to prove controlled and repeatable graphene loading, then test strength, durability and manufacturability. If those trials succeed, they plan to launch through Aeropreg's existing sales channels. First Graphene sees this as a route into the carbon fibre reinforced plastics market, which it estimates will be worth US$43.7 billion by 2033. The deal follows First Graphene's acquisition of MITO Materials, which expanded its North American composites business. The real test is whether the graphene additive can hold up at manufacturing scale, not just in the lab.
