Worth noting that shore power only works if ports have the infrastructure. Many cruise destinations still lack it. So the ship can do its part, but the system needs to catch up.

The waste heat recovery turbine is interesting. On a large cruise ship the hotel load is huge so every kW from recovered heat reduces generator run time. Would like to see the actual efficiency gain numbers.

Regulatory pressure is the main driver here. IMO and EU rules on maritime emissions are tightening. Dual fuel gives flexibility while ports and fuel supply chains develop. Practical interim step.

Thermal treatment of organic waste onboard is a nice touch. Cruise ships generate a lot of food waste. Turning that into something usable instead of dumping at port reduces a real operational headache.
