Finance Earth and FSD Africa Launch $100 Million Fund for Nature-Based Carbon Projects in Africa
esgtoday.comFinance Earth and FSD Africa Investments have launched the Africa Nature Impact Fund, a platform designed to back early-stage nature and nature-based carbon projects across Africa. The fund has a $100 million target, with a $20 million first close planned for 2027. FSDAi is anchoring the effort with a $6.6 million cornerstone commitment to help de-risk projects and attract institutional investors. The fund aims to protect or regenerate 4.5 million hectares of land, sequester or avoid over 100 million tonnes of CO2e, and improve livelihoods for 1.4 million people, half of them women. It will focus on projects with benefit-sharing arrangements intended to direct a large share of carbon value to host communities. The launch reflects the gap between Africa's natural capital dependence and the limited investment flowing to high-potential nature projects.
