Ferrari has unveiled the Luce, its first production electric vehicle. The car features an 800-volt architecture, a 122 kWh battery pack, and four electric motors delivering 1,020 hp. It can charge at up to 350 kW and reaches 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds. Weighing 4,982 pounds, the Luce is a luxury five-seater designed for comfort and high performance. Pricing starts at approximately 520,000 euros, with European orders opening in late 2026.

350 kW charging is impressive on paper, but the real question is how many chargers can actually deliver that peak without throttling. Also, 5,000 pounds is a lot of mass to move. I wonder what the actual efficiency is in Wh per mile when you are not just flooring it.
The weight is the main issue here. From a policy perspective, these ultra-heavy luxury EVs make it harder to hit fleet average emissions targets if the battery size just keeps growing to offset the weight of the luxury trim.
First EV from Ferrari and they still offer a smoker kit. That is a weird detail to include in a brochure for a car meant to represent a green transition.
The 800V architecture is the only part of this that actually matters for the tech curve. Everything else is just expensive leather and carbon fiber. It is a rolling showcase of luxury, not a breakthrough in efficiency.
