FACT Beta: Free Forest Carbon Data Platform Launches for U.S. Landowners and Wood Products Industry
tsln.comThe U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities launched the Beta version of the Forestry Analytics for Carbon Tracking (FACT) platform. It pulls scattered public and private forest carbon data into a single free tool for landowners, manufacturers, and researchers. The goal is to give the U.S. forest products sector a consistent way to report carbon numbers and stay competitive in markets that increasingly ask for them. FACT includes tools to convert forest inventories into carbon stock estimates, calculate carbon impacts for harvested wood products, and support embodied carbon calculations in design and architecture. The platform is being built with input from industry groups and is meant to complement existing tools rather than replace them. A full Version 1 release is planned for summer 2027.
