Evero Ince Bio Power Plant to join HyNet carbon capture network with 217,000 tonne CO2 removal
gasworld.comEvero Energy plans to retrofit its Ince Bio Power Plant in Cheshire with carbon capture technology and connect to the HyNet North West CO2 transport and storage network. The project would capture 217,000 tonnes of CO2 per year from processing 170,000 tonnes of waste wood that would otherwise go to landfill. The retrofit depends on the Protos Spur pipeline, which is designed to transport around 980,000 tonnes of CO2 annually from multiple industrial sites. The planning application was submitted in May and is under review by Cheshire West and Chester Council. If approved, the project is expected to be operational around the end of the decade. The Ince plant already generates low-carbon electricity from waste wood, and the carbon capture addition would make it a net-negative emissions facility. This is one of several HyNet-linked projects in the region, including a Uniper power station on Deeside that would also capture at least 95% of its emissions.
