European airports net zero pledges: Italy, France, Albania, Romania add 14 hubs to 2050 carbon targets

Italy, France, Albania, and Romania added 14 regional hubs to binding decarbonization roadmaps. These airports now cover 83% of European passenger traffic. 36 hubs have already eliminated Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and 106 are targeting full decarbonization by 2030. The commitments were finalized at the ACI EUROPE Annual Congress in Prague. Each participating airport published a public roadmap for investor transparency. The mandates cover on-site power, vehicle fleets, and purchased electricity. The push is driven by a view that sustainability is now a baseline requirement for operating licenses and commercial viability in European aviation.
