Eurobitume, the European Bitumen Association, published a Decarbonisation Roadmap that aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions from bitumen production by 73% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels. The plan covers electrification of equipment, low-carbon fuels, and process efficiency improvements across the production chain. It also acknowledges the challenge of a globally distributed supply chain that requires close cooperation with upstream partners. The roadmap was presented at Eurobitume's E&E event in June 2026 and a public webinar is scheduled for September 9. The document is meant to inform policy discussions and support the broader European climate goals. It is the first phase of a larger sustainability roadmap from the association.
