The European Commission has completed the first round of its Hydrogen Mechanism, a platform designed to link renewable and low-carbon hydrogen producers with industrial buyers. The inaugural phase included 265 projects, covering green hydrogen and derivatives like ammonia, methanol, and sustainable aviation fuel. Data from the round shows significant interest, with 87 percent of suppliers receiving interest from at least one offtaker. This initiative, operating under the European Hydrogen Bank, aims to scale the green hydrogen value chain by reducing administrative hurdles and providing market intelligence for procurement.
