Steel producers with verified emissions data are expected to gain a significant market advantage by 2027. As the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) moves forward, buyers are increasingly prioritizing suppliers who can provide reliable, audited carbon reporting to avoid higher costs associated with default emission values. Currently, few suppliers outside Europe, particularly in Japan and South Korea, are fully prepared for these reporting requirements. This gap creates a strategic opening for mills that invest in transparent carbon accounting and low-carbon production routes.
