EU just auctioned 2.7 million carbon permits at 77.67 euros per tonne. Simple data point, but it shows where the market is sitting right now.
The price is the main thing here. It reflects the current tension between industrial demand and the tightening supply of permits under the latest regulatory phase.
Price is fine, but I want to know if this auction was oversubscribed. If demand is spiking while the grid is still struggling with interconnection, these costs just hit the utilities harder.
