The European Union, Brazil, and China have formed a new Open Coalition to standardize carbon markets and pricing policies. The initiative focuses on improving monitoring, reporting, and verification systems to ensure high integrity offsets and better corporate compliance across different international systems. This collaboration aims to strengthen domestic carbon markets and align them with the Paris Agreement. New Zealand and Germany have already joined the coalition, with a formal work plan expected to be adopted at the Carbon Market Conference in September 2026.
