The European Commission has authorized a €405 million Greek program to reduce electricity levies for energy-intensive companies. The initiative aims to stop industrial relocation to countries with weaker climate rules, a process known as carbon leakage, while keeping Greek industry competitive globally. To qualify for the aid, companies must meet strict environmental criteria. These include implementing energy audit recommendations, investing half of the aid into emissions reduction projects, or sourcing at least 30% of their electricity from carbon-free energy.
