The European Union and ASEAN nations are collaborating to develop carbon pricing mechanisms and emission trading systems across Southeast Asia. This partnership focuses on sharing technical expertise from the EU ETS to help ASEAN members establish credible domestic carbon markets. Efforts are specifically targeting readiness for international carbon trading under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The cooperation covers the creation of carbon registries, monitoring and verification systems, and policy frameworks to attract sustainable investment into the region.
