EU Adopts CountEmissionsEU Regulation for Standardized Transport Emissions Tracking

The European Parliament has approved the CountEmissionsEU regulation to standardize how carbon emissions are calculated across air and surface transport. This framework aims to eliminate fragmented data methods, allowing businesses to accurately compare the environmental impact of different travel options. To support adoption, the European Commission will provide a free emissions calculation tool for small and medium enterprises. While the regulation focuses on the EU, industry groups are calling for these standards to be expanded globally to ensure consistent carbon accounting for international business travel.
