ETZ EnergyWorks Opens in Aberdeen as UK's First Low-Carbon Energy Scale-Up Hub
scottish-enterprise-mediacentre.comETZ EnergyWorks has officially opened in Aberdeen, becoming the UK's first dedicated low-carbon energy incubator and scale-up hub. The £10 million, 3,000 square-metre facility was founded by ETZ Ltd, bp, and Scottish Enterprise, with support from the UK and Scottish Governments. It combines industrial workshop space with co-working and meeting areas, aiming to help early-stage companies test and scale clean energy technologies. The first tenants include Hypanode, which is developing a green power system for aviation and recently secured £9 million in ARIA backing, plus startups working on CCS well equipment, advanced inspection robotics, and underwater engineering. The hub sits next to the £420 million Aberdeen South Harbour and is part of the wider Energy Transition Zone, which already hosts a floating wind innovation centre and a skills hub. The building was also designed to align with UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard 2030 benchmarks.
