ESGIN Global Partners and Heritage Group signed an MOU to develop sustainable agriculture and carbon projects in Cambodia, starting with rice. The plan covers contract farming, Alternate Wetting and Drying, organic rice, biochar from rice husks, compost, and carbon credit development tied to methane reductions. Heritage's affiliate Signature Rice will handle farmer engagement, milling, and exports, while ESGIN brings carbon project development, MRV, and climate finance. The MOU is an early stage agreement, so there are no registered projects, methodologies, or volumes yet. What makes it worth following is the integration of agricultural operations with carbon credit commercialization, including offtake and forward sales. If the rice methane component moves forward, Cambodia's NDC targets give it a clear policy hook.
