Indian climate infrastructure company Equilibrium has signed a multi-year agreement with Altitude for 180,000 tonnes of biochar carbon dioxide removal. The deal is one of the largest long-term biochar offtake agreements from India and strengthens the country's position in the global biochar market. Equilibrium uses agricultural residue to produce stable biochar that locks away CO2 and improves soil health. The company currently operates two biochar facilities in India and plans to expand across multiple agricultural regions. Altitude, a CO2 removal financier, is backing the delivery as part of its strategy to support high-quality carbon removal projects worldwide.
