Epsilon Carbon Reports 98% Scope 2 Emissions Intensity Cut, Avoids 89,000 Tonnes CO2 via Waste Heat Recovery
chemindigest.comEpsilon Carbon's FY 2025-26 sustainability report shows a 98% reduction in Scope 2 emissions intensity compared with its FY 2022-23 baseline. The carbon black producer also cut energy consumption intensity by 6% and avoided more than 89,000 tonnes of CO2 through a 17 MW waste heat recovery plant at its Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka. Scope 3 emissions intensity fell 8.13% year over year. The company's captive power plant, which runs on waste hot gases from production, reached 77% waste heat recovery utilization. Epsilon Carbon also reported zero fatalities and said its CSR programs reached about 140,000 people. These are company-reported figures from the sixth sustainability report, so the assumptions behind the Scope 2 calculation matter. Still, the waste heat recovery numbers are a concrete example of industrial decarbonization in a high-energy manufacturing sector.
