Illegal synthetic drug labs produce massive amounts of toxic chemical waste, with some estimates in the Netherlands ranging from 3,000 to 180,000 tons annually. These operations release hazardous vapors, including carbon monoxide, into the atmosphere. Much of this chemical waste is dumped into rivers and sewage systems. This illegal disposal threatens local ecosystems and human health, creating a significant but often overlooked environmental crisis.
