Envana has acquired Cleartrace Technologies, combining its emissions management software with Cleartrace's energy attribute tracking. The move targets industrial operators and large power buyers facing stricter carbon reporting, including the EU's site-level methane measurement rules from February 2027 and the GHG Protocol's shift toward hourly matching for Scope 2 claims. The combined portfolio includes Catalyst for audit-grade emissions evidence, Cleartrace for meter-to-certificate provenance across RECs and generation, and Cencia for AI-assisted carbon decisions. Envana says the goal is to connect physical assets, the clean energy attributes they produce or consume, and the regulatory requirements tied to those attributes in one governed data chain. For carbon market watchers, the acquisition is a sign that software vendors are consolidating to serve compliance-driven demand. The practical test will be whether the tools hold up under audit and whether customers can actually use them to move from verified data to defensible claims.
