Entergy and MHI Group partner to cut carbon capture costs by 50% for gas turbine power plants

Entergy and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group signed an MOU to develop a roadmap for reducing carbon capture costs by 50% in the near term. The partnership combines MHI's gas turbines and carbon capture technology with Entergy's power generation sites and access to existing CO2 pipeline networks and suitable geology for storage. The goal is to create a standardized, repeatable model for integrated gas turbine combined cycle and CCS projects that can lower long-term costs for the broader energy industry. The collaboration builds on an existing relationship between Entergy and Mitsubishi Power Americas. By integrating gas turbine and carbon capture technologies under one corporate group, MHI aims to improve project economics and accelerate commercialization. Entergy's COO noted that scale, partnerships, and standardization are key to delivering reliable, affordable, clean power. The companies are positioning themselves as early leaders in deploying CCS for natural gas power generation.
