Yang Tao, a veteran energy engineer and former Equinor senior specialist, has returned to the China University of Petroleum-Beijing as a distinguished professor. His goal is to act as a bridge between China and Europe on low-carbon technologies, carbon capture and storage, digital energy, hydrogen, and bioenergy. The move signals ongoing academic and industry exchange in sustainable energy despite geopolitical tensions. Yang is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences and co-founded the World CCUS Council. His appointment could help accelerate practical collaboration in carbon management and emerging clean energy solutions between the two regions.
