ENA Connect Direct hits half a million grid connection applications for EVs, heat pumps, and solar in UK
theenergyst.comThe Energy Networks Association reports that its ENA Connect Direct platform has processed over 500,000 grid connection applications for low-carbon devices since launching in 2024. The free-to-use service lets installers get permission from local DNOs to connect EV chargers, heat pumps, solar panels, and batteries. About 40% of applications are auto-approved, with the rest escalated for manual review. Nearly 78,000 applications came in the last three months, showing rapid uptake as the UK expands clean power. The milestone follows a record year for solar installations, with 269,000 panels added in 2025. The platform now also handles electric boilers and air conditioning units. This digital approach replaces paper forms and aims to speed up connections, which is critical for meeting decarbonization targets.
