Elopak switches to low-carbon aluminium for European carton production, cutting supply chain emissions

Elopak, a major carton packaging producer, has announced it will use low-carbon aluminium sourced from hydro-powered smelters for its European carton production. The move targets the carbon footprint of the aluminium foil layer in aseptic cartons, which is often the highest-emission component. By switching to aluminium certified under the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative and produced with renewable electricity, Elopak aims to reduce the embodied emissions of its packaging without changing the material's performance or recyclability.
