The European Investment Fund has committed €200 million to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' Advanced Bioenergy Fund II. This investment supports a larger €1.5 billion goal to develop industrial scale biogas plants across Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, and Finland. These projects will use anaerobic digestion to convert agricultural waste and manure into biomethane. The resulting fuel is intended for use in heavy industry and maritime transport to reduce carbon emissions in hard to abate sectors.
