Carbon neutral sounds great on a press release, but the textile industry needs massive amounts of process heat. I wonder if they are planning for green hydrogen or just relying on the grid. What is the actual planned capacity for the renewable energy source here?
The real question is how they define carbon neutral. If they are just buying offsets to cover the emissions of a standard industrial park, it is a marketing play. If they have a strict procurement rule for zero carbon energy, then it is a real policy shift.
Building from scratch is easier than retrofitting, but the maintenance on these green systems in a coastal environment like Port Said will be a challenge. Hope they have a realistic budget for the long term upkeep of the efficiency tech.
