Egypt pushes low-carbon industry to boost exports and attract German green tech
egyptian-gazette.comEgypt's Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said green transformation is now an economic necessity, not just an environmental goal. Speaking at a German-Arab Chamber forum, he outlined plans to install up to 1,000 MW of solar capacity for factories over two years, expand renewable energy use, and promote energy service companies to cut industrial emissions. The strategy is tied to a target of raising merchandise exports from $48 billion in 2025 to $100 billion by 2030. Egypt is also looking to localize German technologies in renewables and green hydrogen. The forum welcomed a German trade delegation focused on sustainable decarbonization technologies.
